PREDNISOLONE

Petsow prednisolone is presented as a White circular tablet with a break line across the middle of one side of the tablet marked PRED-5
Prednisolone is a corticosteroid with mainly glucocorticoid activity; 5 mg of prednisolone is equivalent in anti-inflammatory activity to 25 mg of cortisone. It has been used, either in the form of the free alcohol or in one of the esterfied forms, in the treatment of conditions for which corticosterical therapy is indicated, except adrenocortical insufficiency for which hydrocortisone with supplementary fludrocortisone is preferred. Its lack of mineralocorticoid properties makes prednisolone particularly suitable for treating conditions where water retention would be a disadvantage.
