A black/purple coloured hard gelatin capsule with AMPI/CLOXA 500 printed on the shell.
Peticlox is a broad spectrum antibiotic containing Ampicillin and Cloxacillin which is stable to the enzyme Penicillinase. It has bactericidal effect against wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organism.
Each capsule contains;
Ampicillin Trihydrate (equivalent to Ampicillin BP 250mg) and
Cloxacillin Sodium BP (equivalent to Cloxacillin BP 250mg)
CONDITIONS OF ADMINISTRATION:
1 or 2 capsules four times daily depending on the severity of the infection. It should be taken at least 30 minutes before food or 2 hours after food.
Anorexia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, skin rashes, indigestion and rarely pseudo membranous colitis. If rashes occur, treatment should be discontinued.
It is contra-indicated in patients that are hypersensitive to Penicillin.
Peticlox should be stored in a cool, dry place at a temperature below 30oC.
